My favourite music genre

Hi everyone, today I'll write about which music genre is my favourite. It's really difficult   to me to establish which music genre is my favourite since I listen to a lot of different artists, actually on my Spotify you can find from pop to folk, rock and roll and also a little of hip-hop, my favourite artist is called Passenger, he's a solo artist who plays indie folk, so I think my favourite genre is that one.

Indie folk is a music genre that started around the '90s and it came from indie rock musicians who started to get influenced by folk, and started to include that influences on their songs, some people call it modern folk too, it usually refers to acoustic and story-oriented music.

My favourite artist is called Passenger he's a solo artist who plays indie folk, and I love the way he can turn any story into a song (and a really good song) mixing a lot of fingerpicking guitar (he has a really cool guitar), piano, banjo and sometimes mandolin. Sometimes he performs on stage only with a guitar and his unique voice and sometimes he plays with a band that makes him sound even more amazing on stage. I like other artists who also can be referred to this genre like Jack Johnson, Regina Spektor and James Bay.

(Passenger)

The thing that I love the most about this genre is that is soothing but it can be powerful at the same time and it can mix cheerful rhythms with strong lyrics, but it also turn a light song into a great one just by mixing it with a lot of different rhythms and instruments. As I said before I think the thing that is most representative about this genre is that it puts together a lot of different instruments, sometimes in only one song, the instruments that are most used by the artists who play this genre are acoustic guitar, piano, mandolin, banjo and sometimes drums and ukulele.

A really cool song

The best song you'll ever hear

Graduate studies

I think nowadays in the society we’re living in you can’t just have a bachelor’s degree to get into the working life, you have to study something else, maybe it’s because companies and institutions needs more qualified people to do the jobs in order to keep up with the constant change of the environment and also the change in society or maybe just because the less specific jobs are all taken by older people who got their jobs a long time ago without the need to have a postgraduate degree.

In my case, even though I don’t want to continue my studies I know that sooner or later I’ll have to, and when the day comes and when I have the money and time to I would like to study something related with urban management or with entrepreneurship, I would really like to study a masters degree in science called “Urban Management and Development” run by Erasmus University Rotterdam, in Netherlands, even though is really expensive I think learning something like that in a country that is one of the best places to live gives you the opportunity to bring it here and maybe make it possible here as well, I would like to study outside of the country because I think here in Chile people and employers give more importance to people with degrees from outside of the country, but if I have the chance I also would like to study something here related to entrepreneurship, here in Chile Universidad Mayor offers a lot of options related to this matter, but the one I would like to study is a master’s degree called "Innovation management and entrepreneurship", I would like them to be full time since I think it’s the best way to get really into the thing you are studying and be the best at it.

My future job

Actually I have never thought about what I wanted to work in before, in fact I don't know what I want to do, but maybe by writing this post I will figure it out :)

I think I want to work in something completely different to what I'm studying, at least for the first ten years, I think that being between four walls and being so young is a waste of one's life, so I have always wanted to go a couple of years to live and work on an island, I have an special attraction to Hawai'i so maybe (if Trump lets me) I will go to live and work there for a while, I think that it is the best way to grow as a person and acquire experience. I believe in learning from the people rather than from books (even though they are really important, there are some things that aren't written down in books) I would like to work in any thing that gives me the minimum to live a good life, I would like to be outdoors but maybe that's too illusory since almost all the jobs are indoors, I would really like to travel not only on Hawai'i but also here in Chile or other countries, if I go to live there I would love to visit all the islands because there are a lot and some of them have different customs between one and other, as I said before the salary is not a big deal if I would be able to afford a living there or wherever I would live, after a few years I would like to go back and work in Public Administration maybe in something like Corfo, which is a public service that helps with initial incomes -through social benefits- to micro-entrepreneurs and I'm really into that. I don't know if I'm going to study something after I finish this career, or I don't really know what to study, maybe something related to foreign affairs.
